If you run a server or hosting company step inside

What version(s) of php do you use on your production servers. Just trying to get an idea of what version everyone uses so I can decide if it's safe to start doing stuff with php5 now or if 90% of you will be unable to use it.

There is so much software (a shitload in this industry) that relies on not only superglobals, but specific PHP3 capable bugs that I don't think you'll see anyone but the big boys who have dev teams moving into PHP5 in the near future.

Suck it up and deal with the shitty non-static PHP4 classes, man.

I'm saying this from both sides. I have not had a single host that's even considered going 5 native (without .php5 extension and a CGI hack or something), or without much work. This includes MANY mainstream sites as well.

You do know that you can, and are supposed to update that shit, right? There are a few more problems that are patched in 4.4.4. Probably doesn't directly affect you. Just sayin'.

Different versions of PHP4 and PHP5 (4.3.11, 4.4.x, 5.1.x) at the same time - whatever the user prefers.

My setup runs everything in parallel on a load-balanced cluster and lets the user choose which version and which settings he wants to run. PHP4 for those with broken scripts that don't run with newer versions. PHP5 for the developers that want the latest and greatest. Works like a charm so far...

Glad to hear. Looks like I'll stick with php4 and it's pathetic excuse for "static" variables.

It's called a ChangeLog. There's the URL. Consider it a freebie. (As I stated, I doubted they directly affected you, but, yes, you should know how to use DA to update your shit.)
