Exactly. I work with two or three sponsors who pay only by wire or EP. They charge up to $20 per wire and because I live in the middle of nowhere,
all the local banks charge $10 for receiving US wires and $30 for foreign wires.
So the choice for me is lose $50 off each payment, avoid such sponsors, or work with EP. Add to that, I have never needed multiple banks or "alternate" names and addresses, so since PayPal zapped me because ARS sent a payment through after the introduction of their no-adult rules, I haven't been able to open another account. Which leaves EP as the only common payment option when I do any business with other webmasters.
And I hate it. All the people praising EP seem to be overlooking that they are doing the job they were set up to do. Of course things are going to happen as they should most of the time for most of the people. Almost all their work revolves around automated "electronic" transactions, for heaven's sake. The test isn't whether such a business normally works, but how fast and efficiently it deals with any problems which arise. And that is where EP fall down. I put as little through them as possible, but I guarantee I have spent more time with EP on the 'phone and with emails in the last 3 or whatever years, than I have spent communicating with all the banks put together that I have worked with over the past 40 years.
