Besides having a computer that works, very cool programs, amazing design, ease of use, no worries about viruses, and did I mention the computer works without crashing?
Besides that... maybe include...
Lack of frustration. Intuitive Design (both hardware and software) and generally being better than everyone else.
Owning a Mac when everyone else has a PC is like owning a Rolls Royce when everyone else is driving a Pinto Coupe.
I bought a 5 computer license and am installing it on my Powerbook at the moment. I'll then install it on my iMac G5, my Power PC G5, and finally, the iBook.
Installed on 2 computers so far. Looks great! No more syncing all your Macs through iSync, though... now you have to sync through .Mac. That'll take a little getting used to...
You're talking to a computer science major who used only PCs until last summer, when I was finally educated with my first Mac purchased. Since that time I've purchased 4 more and now have 3 PCs, of which I only use 1. And then only grudgingly.
I've always used mac, so I'm used to it... I was getting frustrated with it when they had system 9, but system 10 is AMAZING and I'm sure the new 10.4 update will be hot too...
I also read this article about some research scientists who needed to proccess a lot of data and didnt want to buy a specialized UNIX based computer. They just hooked a few Mac G4s together typed in a few UNIX commands and ran their program... for much cheaper! thats hot shit
has anyone done any UNIX stuff on their mac?

LOL more like
MAC - Automatic GearBox (hence why you mac lovers keep mentioned "easy to use...etc)
PC - Manual GearBox
And we all know which one is better don't we ;)
You simply WILL NOT understand unless you own a Mac. Believe me, I bad mouthed them for YEARS. I had to eat my words once I actually purchased one.
You're driving a Ford Taurus. You think it's fine. Someone tells you about their Rolls Royce. You say, "I don't need one. I have my Taurus. It has AC. It has Power Windows. It has tilt and cruise."
Then you are given the chance to own the Rolls. No longer can you be satisfied with the Taurus.
I dont believe in the whole Rolls Royce analogy, sorry Donnie. There sure is good and stable x86 machines there. But I am a convinced Mac fan as well, I use my iBook now more than my actual Windoze workstation, the next computer is definitely going to be a Mac. I simply find them more productive and convenient. Any Win user who is gonna flame Macs though never ever worked with one, is a moron. Prejudice is so easy.
I will say this: backup your mail before installing Tiger. Of the 3 systems I've upgraded so far, 2 of them lost mail. I did an "archive and install: preserving user and network settings", so that mail is still there, I just have to manually move it into the right place now.

actually... been using computers longer than you... have studied on both pc and mac for the past 10 years....

I cant remember the last time my pc crashed.. or had a virus or anything.. I had a dual G5 and sold it after a few months.. MAC is gay..
LOL, let them use their PC's... if they don't get it, they never will... It's and intelligence thing, you'll never convince an idiot that he's an idiot...

Why on earth would you get an ibook is all I want to know? Go powerbook yo! ;)
But anyway I cant wait to install it on my 3 G5s!
<3 OSX!
I have a Powerbook too. I have 4 Macs at the moment, although I've purchased 5 in the last year (one of them I gave to someone that desperately wanted it)
mac os has got a lot better since they switched to *nix. but mac apps are not much different to pc apps.. they crash, they freeze, they fuck up just the same ( i've seen it happen live at a mac demo for final cut & logic audio ) shit on macs can stuff up just as it does on pc's though most avid mac users are in denial about how often it happens. mac interface is a lot more streamlined than windows.. but not all pc's need to run on windows or a boring flavor of it.
I don't think you will realize how cool OSX is until you use it. If I had a faster mac I would probably use it all the time, until then its Linux for me.
Any of you gusy ever try putting www.ubuntulinux.org on a PPC? I put it on my old mac and it ran pretty nice!
