Honestly I think the approach you are taking is the wrong one.
The intentions are right but these are the things I would do first before going off the meds.
Develop a very very consistent exercise regimen. I would say that whatever it is you create you need to be following it to the T for 6 months at the least and more realistically 1 full year.
Your diet needs to be clean and healthy. Think of the old adage you are what you eat. Eat shit all the time and.....you get the idea. Again this is a very difficult thing to change and I would advise you to be clean and healthy for a long time.
As others have said you need to cut out smoking and drinking coffee. You need to drink water all day long. No soda or other bullshit. Drink water water and then some more water.
I could go on and on but this is a good start.
