should classic Black and white movies be colorized?

Back when colorizing wasn't perfected, it looked kind of lame but im watching Alfred HItchcock's "Dial M For Murder" and the coloring has gotten a lot better. They're still a little too pink but it's still good..

I used to be against colorization but now I love it. I love watching old movies and seeing the different styles of clothes and the old house furnishings. And with color, it really helps bring it out.

nice...all the old liquor bottles had a fancy cork top.

edit....except for the Johnnie Walker Red...which might have been a screw top...the bottle definitely hasn't changed.

Haven't seen any of those movies in color yet, did you get Dial M For Muder from a DVD store to see it in color?

I think it kind of depends on the film,
but mostly I think it is a good idea

I do hate it when they shoot films in black and white now a days, like that cohen brothers film with Billy Bob Thornton, why would you do that now when you have the technology to shoot it in colour??

i honestly am for whatever and whenever for much of anything, if I don't like it, i don't get involved...

as for colorizing movies...go for it, it can't hurt anyone and could make some really good older movies popular again and get new people watching them that didn't have a clue about real quality and stories....

New colorizing is so much better, but many black and white movies were filmed to take advantage of the light and shadow that was created and colorizing the movie could really screw with that balance.

Hitchcock mysteries, old horror movies - leave them alone.

Maybe but this whole movie is taking place in an apartment flat and only the murder took place in the dark...It's good for this movie.

And this movie is REALLY GOOD!

I was wrong. This movie was shot in color originally in 54. That's why the quality was so good.

I don't care if they colorize them as long as you can still purchase the original in B&W.

I'm a bit of a purist and not a fan of colorization...

hey, I have an idea...let's take the Mona Lisa and get one of those spray painters...imagine how amazing she would look with today's colors from Sherwin Williams.....
