    Stupid Question : Is there any way to delete a full directory in WS_FTP

    I know, stupid question.

    On one of my sites I've got a directory with like 28,000 files in it, every time I try to delete everything, ws_ftp stalls and freezes up.

    Anyone know of a way to delete a directory without deleting the files in it?

      The best decision for me would be writing a short php script that erases all files in directory.

          Other than individually deleteing all the files, do you have permission to delete a directory on your server?

              I ftped via IE to delete them, estimated time to finish deleting files: 2 hours, 18 minutes

                  Absolutely. I just get the standard 550 error, directory not empty.

                      You can do it in WS FTP, but it's not a default option. I had similar problems when I bought it, too. Anyway, in WS FTP pro (and most likely other versions), simply click on "Tools" and then "Options". In my version, there is a check box for "Allow deletion of non empty folders". Make sure that is checked. Once it is, you should be good to go.

                              WS_FTP won't do it, but :

                              Cute FTP will delete non empty directories.

                                  Never mind my post... I'm an idiot. My mind must be in dumb mode. For some reason, I read it as you wanting to delete the entire folder AND the contents within... obviously that's not the case.
