First blogs and now RSS feeds are two areas where mainstream has left us in the dust. And if mainstream used hosted galleries, we would likely have looked stupid there too.

About 6 months ago I went looking for sponsors who had feeds which might work on a blog, a real blog not a TGP by another name: I found 30. I tried out 3 different WordPress aggregators and they all worked fine, but they could only read and display 9 of those 30 feeds. I had to drop 2 of those because every few days their code would be screwed up and break my site.

It's staggering that in an industry this size, so few RSS feeds are compatible with the most popular blogging software. And although those apparently worked, only 2 validated fully. The seven varied from high-quality but oversized pics taking up 3 screens and with hardly any text, to poor quality cam stills with the kind of BS sales pitch you find on a tour. A couple were pretty good and looked as if some thought went into them (not surprisingly maybe, they were also the ones which validated properly) and that was it...
