I'm confused. How would a "new guy" already have programs which are doing well for him (or badly for that matter)? And isn't the biggest problem for most inexperienced submitters that until they get their gallery designs right, few if any programs are likely to do well for them?
If before that you were trying to make the more general point that stats can fluctuate wildly in the short term, fair enough. It's apparent from the frequent posts about people having a bad day or a bad week, even a bad month, that many don't understand how clustering can give you good periods and bad ones. Come to that, it's more bizarre that people so often talk about consistent ratios and don't see anything odd that they should be consistent.
Still if you merely note changing stats and carry on regardless, that doesn't exactly qualify as taking charge of your business. You cannot just
assume that you are seeing a statistically inevitable blip. At least check the tours for changes and even if you see nothing wrong, if the drought proves to be sustained, you must move on. Although hopefully with at least a little thought and not, as you put it, simply following the sheep.
