Signs of the FUCKING times.

I went to yahoo and saw the news headlines.
Two headlines caught my attention:

1. Sunni militants take 100 Shiites hostage
2. U.S.-China spacecraft debris collide in orbit

Now guess which one I thought was most important to read.
Yep, I went straight to the space debris story.

I guess that's a sign of the times.

I feel very sorry for those kids over there, and their families back home, as Americans get more concerned with the latest Desperate Housewives twist then their sacrifice. You can just tell how bad it's getting in the nightly news... stories about Iraq almost seem like sidenotes now.

Unfortunately, the "times" are such that the words "militants" and "hostage" are so much more often in the news that we don't really see (much less FEEL) them anymore. We're trained to believe that something like that is ALWAYS happening SOMEWHERE, so the particulars, the body count, the details of needless savagery don't penetrate.

Resist that.

Meanwhile, the sky may actually BE falling.

By far, history's saddest lesson is that ANY difference (however arbitrary or superficial) is ENOUGH to make one group of people hate and kill another group.
