I installed a recent Ubuntu on my laptop 2 years ago, and it picked up the graphics card (which XP still doesn't and requires a CD), the wireless controller, the Winmodem, and a ton of other shit which has been historically a pain in the ass.

yeah, i didn't have to download any drivers or anything, when i installed it, it was all working just as if i bought it pre-installed
where as windows i had to download video drivers, CD DRIVERS, and a fucking driver for my internet...
ubuntu was all ready to go once i was installed
