Suse has always been behind the game IMO. They have a big corporate presence, especially in Europe, but as far as software goes, they started as a revamped version of Redhat before Redhat really took off in terms of development. Now if you want a Redhat-based distribution,
Fedora is the way to go, and buying/downloading Suse will leave you with an inferior product.
