What happens if I file my taxes late?

If you file for extension the fines are not too bad. I think they only charge interest, perhaps .5% per month or something around there.

It depends if you owe or are getting a refund. If you owe you will pay a penalty with interest, if you are entitled to a refund it doesnt matter.
