Well.. It kind of comes down to choice. When it was just myself years ago I was more than happy with 8-15k a month. (I had some huge months but normally sat in the range)
As things grew and developed into a company, earning over 20k a month was easy. 10 joins a day isn?t hard.
If you are serious about your business and not new to the business.. 20k a month should be a cakewalk. Free traffic guys may have to work at it a little harder, but it just comes down to working your ass off and mastering your business.

Making $20 a month is not impossible or even unlikely. But it's not easy.
You need skills, application, talent and the ability to market. Do not cut corners, compromise or cheat.
Skills, do you have a skill that the world needs?
Application, are you prepared to work at it?
Talent, is the little ingredient that puts you above all the others doing the same as you.
Marketing, you may be God's gift to something but to make money you need the ability to sell yourself/product.
Cutting corners, there are few short cuts to success. Simply because others are taking that route.
Compromise, stay true to your beliefs. Learn as you go but be true to yourself.
Cheating, look around you at the cheats. Most of them could not raise $200 if they had to. Doing one deal makes you one profit. Doing the same deal time and time again makes you rich.
Look at me and if you were here think back 3 years when I arrived. I was told by all the experts my content is not needed, I did not understand the Internet so would not succeed and my attitude was not right for selling to Adult Webmasters. Most of those experts are now gone or out of the content business.
I stayed true to the above.

Ironically for me, less traffic means more money. I could never figure that out.
I've always done well with SEs. Don't have to be at the top to do the best. Yet I get fine tuned targeted traffic which translates into solid, dependable sales and rebills. If I went affiliate I would easily make well over $50k a month but it's too much a pain for now. Maybe by end of this summer. Tested it a few years ago and it shot off like a rocket.
I think you guys are right that if you have a good product/service and keep focused you have no choice but to expand. Be true to your resellers and customers and be diverse. Stick with the people and companies that are true and reliable. If a guy can't keep his word or you see him or her screw over someone else then cut them the fuck off.
