Is 40 Mbps TOO MUCH bandwidth for 3 paysites? We won't be serving galleries from them. Will just host the member movies and the sites themselves and a few smaple movies on the paysites.

The 3 sites will get a combined TOTAL of 50K uniques per day.

Is 40 Mbps too much bandwidth? If so, how much will we need.

I am guessing that 50k is to the tours? Or do you have 50,000 unique member visits a day?

Are your movies streamed or downloaded?

Off the cuff I would say YES! However in addition to the questions we need to know much data is involved?? How much diskspace do the three sites consume?

Just be on a burstable line.. don't order something you don't know if you need or not; it takes 30 seconds for your hosting company to upgrade you.

If it's 50k tour traffic, and lets say 50 joins a day.. Unless you have a nice size member base that's a bit of BW.. Again depending on the member base, I would say 20-30mbps would be about right.

Yes, 50K is to the tours. Movies are downloaded.

Yes it is too much unless your trailers are very big

Overkill I would say at 40. I would be looking into the 10 to 20 range that is burstable if needed.

For the tour you should calculate like this:

3/4 of the tour graphics + 1 trailer, on average per visitor. With 1 MB trailers that would be close to 1.5 MB per visitor = ~7-8 mbps average (actual) usage for 50k visitors. With 95th percentile calculation it'd be ~12-15 mbps (roughly twice the actual usage)

That is a bit much, but like everyone mentioned, there are other stuff involved. Well calculated Http.

It's enough to stream the videos of your ferrari.

That will hold about 2,000 monthly members in an average paysites members area.Of course I assumne that you have site snagging and password sharring off.

50k unique visitors to paysite frontends, using 40mbs is way too much
my MGP galleries dont even suck that much BW with the same traffic ratio.
