A Brooklyn teen yesterday was convicted of stoning a homeless man to death with a lethal barrage of bricks outside a church soup kitchen.
It took just hours for a jury to find Jamel Robinson, 16, guilty of murder for chasing down Billy Pearson and pelting him with dozens of bricks in June 2004.
Robinson and a friend, Dashorn Washington, also 16, first spotted Pearson sleeping in a car at an East New York gas station, opened the door and hit him with a trash can, cops said.
The teens then charged after him for two blocks to St. Gabriel's Catholic Church, where Pearson would sometimes go for a hot meal. The two took turns hurling bricks at Pearson, 51, who was found laying in a pool of blood behind a statue of the Virgin Mary in the church's rectory, cops said.
"Billy Pearson was literally stoned to death for no reason at all," prosecutor Kyle Reeves said in his closing argument.
