4 generations isn't very long. Only people in North America think of the 1800's as irrelevant ancient history. Very few of us would be where we are today if our grandparent's grandparents were slaves who weren't allowed to learn to read, own property, etc etc. You owe your pleasant lifestyle to your parents and their parents, period. If you had grown up poor and illiterate with no chance to get an education or any kind of a break you wouldn't be here right now. It's not as if the day slavery ended all blacks became equal, in case you forgot they were still second class citizens until about 40 years ago.

Not defending this crime, just saying the fact that slavery ended generations ago doesn't mean we can blame black people for their poverty.
