    Colin Farrel's accent in THE NEW WORLD

    Anyone see this movie? Why is he from England like everyone else he's with, but he's still just using his natural Irish accent? With the money put into his paycheck and the rest of the movie, they couldn't afford to hire a vocal coach to train him for a week to learn an accent he should already know?

    Or am I missing something and he's actually supposed to be from Ireland?

    Sorry, I'm an actor an an accent snob now, and I'm mostly curious to see if anyone else noticed this. Someone that isn't an accent snob.

                              I never noticed probably since Ireland was in the British Empire, Irishmen served in the British Navy, and there were even Irishmen living in England. Or maybe I was too concerned with the movie sucking to care. I thought Thin Red Line was good but I've lost all respect for this writter since I'm sure he used some of the same lines in The New World.

                                      He did a quite good American accent in that phone booth movie and I'm sure an English one would have been no problem if they had wanted one
