I wonder if recent SE updates are meant to plug the 'holes' inherent in such a trust/qualitys systemOriginally posted by shermsshackVery interesting read... I'm hoping to see these practices more and more to ensure that quality sites get the best rankings.Comment

So Google bowling is a myth?Originally posted by wedouglasThe idea of inbound links hurting you is completely flase imo. You cannot control this. That would mean others could hurt your site and you could do nothing about it.Comment

2hp invented trustrank.
Trustrank won't last long. To paraphrase Monty Python.."How do you get to be an authority site anyway, I didn't vote for you?"
Profile rank is the next lost slipper to follow when the power will finally be returned to the people. The collective recommendations of millions of users can't be beat whether it's for a product or a website.
Gene this was briefly alluded to in that very informative article you posted about NewsCorp's mindblowing plans for MySpace. Thanks for that. I had just watched an interview with Murdoch a couple nights before talking along the same lines.

That would be nice.. we'd all be able to spend more time making quality sites because it'd be the best way to get traffic and make money.Originally posted by shermsshackVery interesting read... I'm hoping to see these practices more and more to ensure that quality sites get the best rankings.
There will always be scammers trying to beat the system, though.Comment
