FUCK FUCK FUCK, I just typed out a reply to this post, was about to press submit reply and I got a powercut. Rather than rewrite the whole fucking thing which I probably couldnt do now here is a summary of my reply:
a) Ive never been one who thought it right for a sponsor to take my traffic and not give me credit on a popup sale.
b) With console free tours I can (and do) get my links in all the right places where they wouldnt otherwise be because they are clean.
c) I am prepared to forego any additional sales opportunities generated by popups
if the sponsor does give me credit mainly because of point b.
d) Ive analysed my stats over the past couple of years and easily noticed that the brute force approach of sheer numbers generated via console free links easily outweigh the less numbers/more opportunity that consoles bring (less numbers as most of the good places wont list consoles).
Now for Roger, I suspect I am your typical average webmaster, but the current sponsors I use on PPS range from $32 to $50. However my best PPS is $35 a pop, so although higher payouts are great, it still comes down to earnings. However I will add that I would push you more if the incentive is there.
