and buffet made proably the best decision he has ever made in his life when he gave to the foundation

He's going to do a load of good for the world, he has more money to help the worlds poor then any country. Many people had different views about him and the way he conducted his business, now he'll use his money and power for good, he'll go down in history as a hero.

Gates, for as much as I hated him for what he did to the business world (major geek tendencies here) is actually a bigger humanitarian than most that I've seen.

This money will be split up between 16 different groups; being that they are to pool their resources. Sadly, I don't think this will happen but more beurocratic tape.. my former roommate worked on various things in the lab, being a geneticist.. and they won't play together nicely.

Still, I do hope that the egos manage to check themselves for the good.

Yeah but he's giving it to The Gates Foundation because he believes in what Bill and Melinda are going to do with the money.

Buffet mentioned if he doesn't donate his money (before and when he dies) then the gov't will take such a big chunk in taxes and he believes The Gates Foundation will do more good with the money the the Gov't will.

I think your math is off...

Bill gates doesn't make 50 billion per year like someone MAKES 200k per year. Gates' net worth fluctuates up and DOWN each year. But out of that 50 billion most of it is not liquid. I've always been interested in learning exactly how much actual cash Gates has because selling off his % in his various companies will be a SLOOOOOOOW process
