Yes, blogs can be very good at getting SE traffic.. Blogs can be poor at getting SE traffic too.. Depends on how you do it.. I have quite a few blogs that are getting a good deal of search engine hits

I've never seen blogs in google results. Post some samples.
if you update your blog daily you can get top listings for certain keywords/phrases. i had a latin ass blog that had #2-#10 listings for phrases like la zona modelos, selena spice, ass parade, mike in brazil, etc.. but like i said you have to write good descriptions, titles, tags, etc and update daily.
Calling something a Blog will not improve your SE traffic. However, due to the large amount of text (except for those not too brite people who for some reason think a blog is a TGP, and just post pics), they can give you good SE results.

I meant real blogs, using WordPress. Just wondering if this kind of site structure is good for search engines.
DamageX, you're not bringing anything to the discussion. Please, either post something useful or go be a smartass in some other thread.

My point was, as with anything, it depends on how you use it. I think Jace has some of the best blogs I've seen. I may not have been him, but I seem to remember it was.
I actually had one blog that a certain search term (models name) ranked higher for me than it did for the girls own site. Still have no clue how I did it...but wish I did.

being a blog or not, has nothing to do with SE rankings. just because someone is using wordpress doesn't mean it does not look like a typical site... or like anything the user wanted it to look like.
... if you are so naive that you are asking this question, your time would be much better spent learning about SEO rather than bantering back and forth with people who obviously aren't going to show you a template for success that they worked hard to create.
Depends on what SE...
Google, very tough now but a few updates ago, quite easy.
Yahoo, not difficult. Do some searches and you can see yourself.
The problem is that most people don't set up their blogs for SEO. If you use one of the popluar blog programs you can use plug-ins and modify the options to make it SE-friendly.
Yeah they can do alright, mostly image search traffic though. So make your posts attractive to catch attention when they load you in a frame and it will do just as fine as text searches.

how many blogs do you have man? and how do you have time to update those?
I wish I knew my secret, because I would do it again and again. I just got lucky, I guess, but for a while if you typed in "Sarah Peachez" on Google or MSN, both of my blogs would come up before her actual site.
