How much time does it take to design a 1 page paysite ?

A well know design company said they were going to start working on it on March 28.

It's April 2nd and I still haven't heard from them.
Am I being too demanding ?

On March 28 I emailed them and reminded that my design was scheduled for that day.

On March 29 I got a reply saying that the designer who was supposed to work on it had caught a bad flu and just returned back to work. They said he would start working on it in a few hours and they would let me know as soon as they had an update.

Haven't heard from them since.

1 page ad would take anywhere from 2-6 hours depending on quality, complexity and readily available thumbs/cutouts/other graphics on hand.

I do only premium work, with fast turnaround time... so if you dont like waiting 3 days for 1 page of graphics... hit me up

its just fair as client that you get informed even if all of their staffs get sick, you deserve all the courtesy. they should threat every client fairly whether they are big time or not. if they are getting tons of work, its a bad excuse to tell a client that his projects are hold on the meantime until his assigned staff gets back. come on, they ought to be having back-up workers all the time to make sure everything is smoothly done. you have to invest more and see to it that your clients are satisfied all the time, its the proper way how to make a business more profitable, get more clients happy and they themselves will refer you more clients, word of the mouth.

Anyways bro, hope they get in tough with you before you lose the grip

You are not too demanding.
Yes you waited one month (which must of sucked), but once your turn has come it means that they are working only on your shit. So they should be busy only with you project once they start it. Therefore IMO, 1 day is long enough to make a 1 page layout. Especially if you are factoring 1 day as being 9-5.

I really don't know what's going on, but maybe they're in Phoenix... or maybe they're burnt and trying to think about a good idea for your site... or maybe they just suck. I'd suggest you to wait a couple days, and if the quality is not as outstanding as the time they took to do it, then start bursting their balls

I agree - it usually takes me about 1-3 days to design a mockup. But I do things a little differently. I create a client page for all clients letting them know the status of their project - whether it's a 1 pager or a full paysite.

If they don't work the weekend, I would give them until the end of Monday.
