I dont live in florida but I got a pet out of the hurricanes. a baby flying squirrel got knocked out of a tree in my yard when the remnants of hurricane ivan came through georgia, I bottle fed him for a month and he lived, so I named him Ivan and I still have him as a pet.
Sorry if its off topic, thats my hurricane season 2004 story.
