didn't XEROX fire the guys who made the mouse? the execs could believe that anyone would want to use a device called a mouse?

Microsoft took the same road that JVC took with the VHS. Licensing will make you more than you can make on your own. If Apple continued to let the MAC be licensed like the early models we wouldn't be having this discussion.
