10+ years means your domain should be 1995 or before.

Splitfinity did you run under another domain or company name before?

    And then your site says
SplitInfinity Networks is headquartered in San Diego, California and provides services to web site owners internationally. Splitinfinity has been providing dedicated servers, co-locations, web hosting and development since 1996.
    I dont get it

Some please shed some light on this.

    My math is wrong.

    You say 10+ years

    2005-10=1995
But your domain says 1997 and site says 1996

I have owned htmlplace.com since 1995 however it says I registered it in 2000

thats because in 2000 I moved the registration from network solutions to godaddy.

This is a possible answer ... however the wayback machine can confirm if was was going anywhere before then

Now when that happends. Does the domain go through an expired/dropped state?
Ive transfered dmains before and they never lose reg dates

no it didn't ... it was always registered. However it was hijacked from me at that time by someone else which could explain it. However from the wayback machine you can see I owned it before then.

Some domains lost the original registration dates and others I have kept the dates.

So unless a domian gets hijacked or expires what would cause the reg date to reset

Lots of things. I have seen reg dates change on dns updates. The point is that information is not always accurate.

Basically just answering alex's questions about why some registration dates are wrong.

And yes you are right a corporation, or company name change will change the registration date also.

We incorporated our company around the time so the registrations were updated.
And you guys are right, the wayback machine didnt start early enough and precise enough to catch everything.
                            :-)

You got me curious about the accuracy of that thing.... im checking out the old stuff.... very interesting how that thing keeps so much data.

Anyone have any info on them and their system? Curious how big their disk librarian system is... must be in the order of petrabytes or something....
