It wasn't a smack, nor was it a forearm smash. It was a knifehand strike to the carotid artery which causes instant knockout/loss of consciousness if done properly.
I remember when it came out and one of the students of that instructor witnessed the whole thing. Another interesting fact about it was that the pimp was smacking his hoe in front of a martial arts school full of cops doing training with the karate instructor.
