Actually if California seperated from the USA it would be the 5th largest economy in the world. It's one of the richest state in our union, along with New York, Connecticut, New Jersey, and Massachusetts. i guess you have no idea what "welfare state" means. my comment was regarding the ridiculous amounts of money dumped into the subsidy programs each year in california compared to other states. the "5th largest economy in the world" is in debt and can barely afford to fund its infrastructure.
