My laptop story.. (problems)

So I Bought a laptop off ebay

and 2 months after I got it, the connection inside the laptop that connects to the power output breaks (so I can no longer charge my laptop)

my friends dad owns an electric company, and he tells me that he will be able to fix it for me.

I give it to him ,and after about 1 month, he tells me that the problem was fixes but in the process, they damaged the cable of the mousepad on the laptop.

Since then, it's been about 4 months of "we are working on it", "we ordered the cable", "the cable we ordered was the wrong one", "we are looking into it", and so on

now I want my laptop to be fixed, so I send them a letter with registered mail, giving them 10 days to fix my laptop, or refund me the price of the laptop, or else I will file a complaint and take them to court over it.

and 10 business days have passed...

now I have 2 options, either (after 6 months of waiting), I can go and pick up my damaged laptop from their offices, and try to find someone else to fix/replace the mousepad cable, or I can file a complaint and wait another few months for it all to go through...

so to recap, it all started off as my friend doing me a favour, and now I haven't been without a laptop for about 6 months...

what should I do?

fuck that - favor or no favor get the laptop back and go to a fucking laptop specialist

dont piss fart about with electriacians who dunno what they are doing.

i had a smiliar problem with a mavica camera ended up just getting Sony to write me a check after 3 months of getting dicked about by their "official repairer" i couldnt be fucked waiting

Well after all that fucking around inside it, warranty is probably broken. I'd say fuck it and go buy a new one. I've had 1 compaq and 1 HP with charging problems. Sent the HP in under warranty, they sent it back, and it still had the problem. I just bought a new one and said fuck it. Only $2700.

First off, you really shouldn't do too much business with friends unless you have done business with them for a while.

Second, go pick up your computer. If the relationship is important to you, be very polite about it, ask them for your computer back and be sure to let them know that there is no hard feelings (even though there is) and you just needed to have your problem resolved a little quicker than they had time for.

And third, send Holly to me when you're through with her.

Same here. There so many stores in Montreal selling laptops, I see no needs to buying on one Ebay.

Tough spot. I think I'd just go get my laptop. Wonder if they problem is even actually what they are saying it is. How mad would you be if you walked in and they were USING your laptop in the office? lol
