I think the last one was farther off shore, so they'd have felt it less. Also, since the last one was out in sea, the wave had farther to go, and had momentum behind it.. Hopefully this one was close enough that it didnt force the big wave up or whatever.

There has been an Earthquake, Thats all.. No Tsunami, no floods and no thousands of deaths, Just an underwater earthquake..
It's an 8.2 Earthquake and that's only about 1/10 of the size of the tsunami earthquake, pretty shocking still for those living there, but no way near as dangerous.Comment

About 300 dead, no tsunami so far. I remember the December body count started at 1k and finished at around 300k.
Scientists say the threat of a tsunami striking Indonesia and Thailand may have passed because a wave like the one that hit the region on December 26 would have reached those countries almost immediately. Monday's quake struck at 11:09 a.m. ET (1609 GMT).
