Another successful day of Occupy Oakland

OAKLAND, Calif. (AP) ? For weeks the protests had waned, with only a smattering of people taking to Oakland's streets for occasional marches that bore little resemblance to the headline-grabbing Occupy demonstrations of last fall.

Then came Saturday, which started peacefully enough ? a midday rally at City Hall and a march. But hours later, the scene near downtown Oakland had dramatically deteriorated: clashes punctuated by rock and bottle throwing by protesters and volleys of tear gas from police, and a City Hall break-in that left glass cases smashed, graffiti spray-painted on walls and an American flag burned.

More than 400 people were arrested on charges ranging from failure to disperse to vandalism, police spokesman Sgt. Jeff Thomason said. At least three officers and one protester were injured.

On Sunday, Oakland officials vowed to be ready if Occupy protesters try to mount another large-scale demonstration. Protesters, meanwhile, decried Saturday's police tactics as illegal and threatened to sue.

Mayor Jean Quan personally inspected damage caused by dozens of people who broke into City Hall. She said she wants a court order to keep Occupy protesters who have been arrested several times out of Oakland, which has been hit repeatedly by demonstrations that have cost the financially troubled city about $5 million.

These people are such incredible idiots. They tried to take over the YMCA last night after the building they originally tried to take over didn't go so well. According to OccupyOakland dot org their plan was based on finding a building that was either bank owned, or owned by a 1% corporation (WTF does that mean? 1% of the 1%?). So they went for the YMCA instead, and the facility had to be evacuated.

Seriously, this is getting out of hand.

Glad I didn't go to the gym last night.

Lake Merritt area, Oakland Hills, and the Claremont area are pretty nice. They're all part of Oakland.

Here in Amsterdam being an occupier in most cases means:
              You don't work
You want money from people who do work
              You steal
              You're agressive
You're addicted to drugs and/or alcohol
              You vandalize
              You pollute
              You're intolerant
              You don't shower

              And i'm sure i forgot a bunch...

The down side of democracy is that you can't round up a few dozen of these idiots and shoot them in the public square in front of the crowds. "Democracy" ultimately means "sinking to the lowest common denominator"
                  .
Yes, fewer illegal immigrants working equates to more job opportunities for American citizens.

They didn't bring their baseball bats to beat on the shields ...

The Zulu's seized the day and drove the British Empire out BTW.
However, they had a clear cause -- defending their homeland ...

The OWS are just a manifestation of the anger over the current financial manipulation that has brought the long ongoing manipulations to the surface. Here is the USA these "events" will become more frequent as the general elections come this November but to what end in support of whom or some alternative offered is far from being clear -- it seems just lashing out in anger.

Unfortunately democracy is short circuiting evolution in this case.
Because the real 99% doesn't want to be paying for these fucking losers.
I wouldn't complain if they were rounded up, sterilized, and sent to some
third world country to work for their food or die starving.

So, it's bad when banks take possession of a property, but it's perfectly acceptable for this group to occupy and take over property just because it's owned by a bank? And when that fails, take over the local YMCA - because clearly some where along the line the YMCA must have done something wrong too.

OWS is a bunch of idiots.
