Pugs are the best kids? dog you can own. They will absolutely love any child forever and always. Be warned: If you ever plan to get a female pug, do not get other female dogs. Pugs can be extremely violent to other females, I've experienced this first hand on several occasions. My old pug Lady:

I had to end up giving the pug away as it just wouldn't leave any female dog alone after that, as soon as a female dog would get around she would get violent towards them and start pissing everywhere.
