There are 500 other filehost to grab up their share. Eleiminating for profit filehost will eliminate a lot of this.
Signing up for a filehost costs money but is so much safer due to the Beuracratic layers added to catching the criminals.

Tubes and forum users are generally in different classes.

Tubes = Casual porn users ("average Joe") looking for something to fap to. Sometimes they use the search to find something specific. Heavy users looking for a specific site or sites don't like tubes as much because they tend not to have large collections of a particular site's content and it isn't always labelled.

Forums = Heavy users ("collectors") who use porn daily or many times a week. Often looking for a specific site's content so they don't have to buy a membership. Heavy users find forums easier because all of the relevant content is listed in one topic or forum section. Has some casual users too but most of these guys like tubes better because it's easier for them to just find something hot to fap to.

You don't like my posts? Put me on ignore or fuck right off. I'll say what I want.

It seems to be that Megaporn was the part of the Megaupload...and it don't work eather...a lot of adult websites uses their embed code so now stay with out it.

Payed filehost...that is no garanty that they will not be closed tomorow...simple as that.

I just do not see sales sudenly jumping up.

there will; always be sites to replace this site.

years ago itr would have made a huge difference.

but i do not see it today. its like bringing out laws to regulate steam trains. we simply have moved on to tubes.

It's OK, no one has ever pirated your content, so it will have no impact on your business.

                  Theres 2 types of surfer:

                  1) Tech savvy with a wallet tighter than fuck (Minority)

                  2) Lazy average Joe, non-geek type of normal person (Majority)

Take out the big places, as we see from the example on hand, this is not hard to do, and the Lazy average Joe Non-geek will pay for membership rather than losing time and effort to find shady crap on even shadier new pop up sites.

So YES taking down megaupload, and all the other "file sharing" giants WILL make a difference.

If they get convicted, then for sure. And this will be just one step. But it will take some time, and the "opposition" won't be just sitting still.

This is where the problem lies, rather than just accepting that there will always be another site to replace this site things need to be done to make sure there isn't another site, lock as many of the stealing fucks up as possible, it'll soon stop.

Yes those who advertised on there will have to move their ads.

Other that a few will lose an income uploading to them.

Will it make any financial difference to online porn? Not a jot.

The freeloaders and pirates have a lot more places. Until we have some law like SOPA that hit's advertisers, billers and US hosting there will be little difference. Even then US pirating sites will need hitting.

What you have to realise is traffic is king. The traffic on MU will move to the next file locker, then when that get's hit the next and by then another will be thinking of going into the same business, knowing the Feds tactics. So it will need some very very good laws to make piracy shrink. Hit VISA with a Cease and Desist notice for processing piracy sites and it's over for most of the pirates. Hit Paypal and a few others and it hurts. Hit advertisers and you'll need grape shot.

Unless they have to know before hand. Then they will be more careful who they do business with. And no I do not accept the argument "We are to big to police our customers." Then employ more staff or shrink or charge more. Don't think not being able to afford policing gives you the right to affiliate with criminals.

For now there won't be a huge affect, but as more of them will start closing doors, sales will surely be affected in a positive way.

                                  It did already.

Fileserve removed it's affiliate page as of few minutes ago, because USA/FBI thinks that a legal part of their TOS is not enough to protect them, where users are responsible for their own content, and not filehost itself. Also, their thread disappeared from WJunction.

Who's next on FBI most wanted filehost list? Why all this, when SOPA/PIPA loose their support? All these could be done way back, if that is even legitimate, and by law. Smells fishy...
                                  VideoBB closed it's affiliate program.

It will make a difference in a lot of very small ways. Not huge headline grabbing ways, mostly. Other "file hosts" have already made changes. Someone who was planning to open a new one will decide not to. A couple of tubes will realize wholesale theft is serious and they'll go legit, with sponsor clips. It just shifts the whole industry slightly toward being more legit.

Let's say the ripples from this and perhaps some other similar action increases revenue by 1%. What's 1% of your revenue over the next five years? $5,000? $10,000?

It will make a small difference but not enough to really notice. There are many other file sharing sites out there that need to be shut down. Once the majority of those sites are shut down, there will be a more noticeable difference.

Agree. And pretty soon hosts and paypal will be reluctant to do business with filelockers.
