i would try to understand them if they give me a reason why they hate us that much?

i admit that germany has a real DARK-BLACK spot in their history back in the 1930's...

but almost every country has a black spot.

I lived in Germany for a year and its been fine, but overall I dont necessarly want them to win... well I cant really explan it

Now that my favororite team is out I dont have a second favorite anymore, but maybe it would be good to see france go to the final again ( I dont care about france but I like Zidane ) or maybe Portugal ( Figo ) or Italy....

I have a good German friend who lives in London with no problems. When we have a few drinks together there is nothing better than watching the "Germans Are Coming" episode from Fawlty Towers.

The joke is from the Fawtly Towers episode "dont mention the war".

Its about a bungling hotel owner (John Cleese) who cant get anything right. He has some german guests and because he is being so polite and trying so hard not to mention it, all he does is talk about the war.

It is the funniest TV show ever. I will have to find a torrent of it.

But wherever I go I will remain german, and I'm proud of that. And yes, with the help of the USA, England and France.

But after 60 years the times of blaming people for Hitler and the Nazis are over. In my family nearly everyone who lived at that time is dead. Either got killed in the war when british bomber burned down Hamburg or simply too old by now.

That would be the same as if I were blaming every American personally for killing indians or bringing slaves over from Africa.

Or every British for inventing concentration camps in South Africa or killing people in India.

Or every French for killing hundreds of thousands in Vietnam.

And don't get me started on Stalin.
