Moniker has actually had complaints about their system being too protective; requiring verification before allowing a transfer-out, which goes against ICANN policy.
Avoid resellers ... too many horror stories - if in doubt, check http://www.internic.net/ for official list of ICANN accredited registrars.

Moniker's whois protection service looks lame because all of the domain owners emails go to Moniker's support email instead of being forwarded to owner of the domain.
Yes we do offer ICANN Compliant WhoIs privacy protection. It is set up for each account by just contacting us or me - [email protected].
We have more than 170K domains on this service and it works great. Our new site due out in a few weeks will have this as an option to purchase right from our shopping cart, but in the mean time, you can just email us with your account number and let me know what you want set up.
Regarding our protection against domain theft and fraudulent transfer out requests - you bet, we are the most secure registrar on the planet - I guarantee it. And yes Ron, we are ICANN compliant. I believe you will hear from many on this forum about how we have protected their inventory. Every domain that just changed hands in the Marchex purchase of UltimateSearch names occurred under our supervision, remains under our management and protection as it has for 4 years, and has our whois privacy protection. That inventory was purchased for $164M dollars!
SomeCreep - you can have another email instead of ours. We just screen all the spam and legal issues on your behalf. If you want an alias email that forwards to you, we have that option as well - No Problem. Most choose ours so they only get what is important.

Oh, I was not aware of that. Sounds like a good service then.
