Well there are different types of ether. chem formula of ether is r-O-r ether), r indicates a carbon chain. The longer the carbon-carbon chain the quicker the effects of anesthesia. So in theory ch3-ch2-ch2-O-ch2-ch2-ch3 could kill you. The anesthesia used sometime ago was di-ethyl ether.
