    Should Webmasters Start their own Affiliate Programs..

    ...before they know how to generate sales?

    Some guys start programs not even knowing how to get a sale, a big NO NO!

          because they both are two seperate issues.

          One issue is if you cant get your own sales then dont start a program until you can.

          The other is do some webmasters earn more than affiliate program owners.

          Plus I have been here over three years and I want to hit 2k posts! I feel guilty for falling behind.

                                                  Good point. It's definitely more self-sustaining and, ultimately, more profitable down the road if a would-be sponsor knew how to generate traffic and convert it. It would provide internal income to help sustain affiliate payouts as well as validate and stress test tours and marketing materials. The latter is extremely important in insuring the viability of the affiliate program since affiliates generally retain only sponsors that convert.
