That's a nice "what if", my post was a "what is" but this exchange runs well off-topic of the thread subject, which is one country demanding another follow their laws which is contrary to their own (especially one with the power to push it).
Sweden should have told the US that their law was not being broken, end of discussion.
China and other fast developing countries would take up the slack of buying any goods (especially fuels) turned down by the US after any foot stamping temper tantrum of not getting their way

(would never happen though, TPTB would never let the administration shoot themselves in their own collective feet

Your scenario can never be a reality as long as the ones profiting from the way things are now are running the show and I don't see that changing any time forseeable.
