Our techs are intimiately familiar with FreeBSD as its our OS of choice and as far as equpiment we recommend you purchase DELL as that's our standard and we would have replacement parts on hand. I'm using their service for a rather long time. Actually I've tried more than 10 other hosting companies till I found 3fn (you my check the whois recoreds for my sites such as fhgstore.com - you'll see they are hosted at 3fn)

Have you considered leasing instead? Colo quotes are often more expensive than a leased server, which on the face of it defies logic.

I've got a 2 year old 1RU colocated server sitting in a rack where the IP block has been derouted - it is up but it's effectively muted. It doesn't cost me anything to have it there, but moving it to somewhere that is connected (ie another host) is basically pointless, because it's likely to cost more than leasing a newer and better server.
