I'm pretty sure I've seen that same exact tear. Probably the machine then.

I would guess that it's the machine they use causing the tear.

Those other check printing machines require an entirely new setup, not just changing up some paper or something like that to do it.

That's cool with me. As long as it's just the machine and other people notice the same tear. I guess it would take a whole new setup to print out checks differently. I didn't really think of that.

wow...so fedex just allows them to send the check with no packaging?

i would weary of just a check being mailed with no fedex envelope ;)

In most countryes this is standard practice when mailing papers in an envelope trough the normal postal system (not courier). It is done to show that the envelope contains only papers (most often products literature, advertising etc) so that it wont get stollen. It actualy shows that the envelope doesnt contain anything of value, just useless papers.
I know in this case it's not useless papers

but they set it up to look like it actualy is

Ok I checked and got a quick reply from Jenni (as always...)

she mails the checks herself and theyre sometimes wrinkled but NEVER torn. She's gonna speak to someone at the postoffice to check whats up and get back to me. The machine doesn't torn them, so somethings going wrong at the postoffice most likely.

If she gets a reply, she's gonna email me and ill post it here so you guys know
