you clearly have no clue what you are talking about.
these guys are from stockholm, they dont even release albums in america hahaha
fucking go watch mtv
I see your point, after working that lucrative Stockholm market for 20 years, why would they want to release an album in the much larger American market, even if someone would actually want to promote them here...better to let them play shithole bars.

so clueless people like yourself can whine about it, and spread good music.

Do you mean it's a surprise that even a shithole bar would book them?
For a band going on 20 years, you would think they might have one hit album or even one hit song. No wonder they play shithole bars.

Yeah, beceause they totally strike me as the kind of band that would appeal to a broad audience. We will never hear some of the best bands in existance, simply because there are some people who are not prepared to compromise their music to make a buck.
I went to the Backyard Babies web site and listended to their tunes (yeah, I actually clicked on the "Sounds" link).
After listening to them, I concluded that the reason the BB's play shithole bars is because their music is totally derivative and really pretty boring, either that or they have a pretty suck ass manager.
At their best, they couldn't even touch the one hit band Sweet, with their one hit song "Ballroom Blitz", either on musicianship or production values, let alone AC/DC and Social Distortion - both of whom make kick ass albums and deliver kick ass concerts...I've seen both of them several times (including AC/DC with Bon Scott).
I'm not sure why you think I watch MTV, because I haven't for a very long time, although MTV actually used to help launch many an unknown band with such shows as 120 Minutes back in the day, but I have long since given up on MTV as anything but a tool for the corporate music industry.
I was a working musician for a very long time, and have played guitar for over 30 years (and continue to play daily). I applaud real musicians. I hate all of the lip-synching, and most of the over-produced sampled crap that is produced and passed off as music these days by the music industry.
That doesn't mean I have to wave a flag for every unknown band in the world who claims to have not sold out simply because they have never made it big. I have never bought into the hipper than thou attitude.
One reason many bands do not make it big is because they really are not that good. Like I said, I was in the music biz for many years (the only biz dirtier than the porn biz) - long enough to know that not wanting to make it big is usually a cop out.
I'm sure Backyard Babies would instantly break up if one of their songs/albums was actually picked up in the U.S. and they became popular. They would never stoop so low as to offer Social Distortion or that popular MTV act, AC/DC a place on their bill, simply for artistic integrity reasons.
The bottom line for me is dig who you like, if you think Backyard Babies is the greatest band of all time, then hey, by all means support them. However, don't automatically dismiss it if others do not agree.
SIG TOO BIG! Maximum 120x60 button and no more than 3 text lines of DEFAULT SIZE and COLOR. Unless your sig is for a GFY top banner sponsor, you may use a 624x80 instead of a 120x60. Let me repeat... A 120 x 60 button and no more that 3 lines of DEFAULT SIZE AND COLOR text.
So judging by what you say if a band plays a small shithole dive bar they are a shithole band? Only bands that play huge 20k people venues are good?
I've watched, Rancid, The Exploited, Ministry, Circle Jerks, Black Flag, Bad Brains, Nirvana and many others play in dive venues that can't hold more then 300 people. So that means they are all shit?
ya know, if the Backyard babies didnt have a Grammy under their belt it would make more sense
fucking dumbasses, if it aint on mtv its not a hit?
Last year's Stockholm Syndrome earned Backyard Babies a Swedish Grammy and a personal nod from Velvet Revolver to open their European tour, thus cementing the band?s reputation as a force to be reckoned with. To fulfill this prophecy, the band has teamed with Liquor and Poker Music (The Hellacopters, Nebula, Hanoi Rocks) to fire their first U.S. release since Total 13. We submit for your approval Tinnitus, an ear ringing, mirrored shades and mascara rock riot.
