$100 isn't bad, actually. A year ago last April one of our cats experienced liver and kidney failure and we had to have her put down. They charged us close to $100 for an intravenous (she was slightly dehydrated), another $100 to be put to sleep...and another $150 for a private cremation.
$350 total - to take home an urn a week later.
