Yeah, again, this is a work in progress. But the point here is that we're doing a MAJOR reduction of the number of ad spots on CJ and we're playing w/ not having any adds at all on the home page.

a top banner spot would be hot

and ofcourse a link to weed.com on 4/20 when i drop the new layout over there would be pretty fucking sexy as well

Yeah, we need to protect the brand so it'll be around for a long time to come.

I know I'm kinda new around here, but writing for the web is what I do so I hope it's okay to throw in my six cents (inflation). Love the look and the colors, but if the page at the top of this thread is the home page - that's a lot of text for a home page. Well, actually, it's the combo of the text and the graphics - not just from a loading perspective but just from a "wow all this stuff to read" view.

Though I gotta say, blogs have changed the way people read on the web. Used to be you couldn't get anyone to read more than a paragraph per page but that seems to be changeing...so that's my 'for what it's worth'.

I think your hitting the nail on the head as far as branding with the redesign! My only complaint would be that the stencil font on the left navigation menu seems a little too squished.

Thats a bold approach to cut down on the ads, especially on the front page. Most people do the opposite, start the site with few or no ads and then once the traffic builds up they fill the page until you can't see anything else (about.com, stile <choke>.) Minimizing the ads definately keeps surfers happy..

A quick first look comparison is that your new design is much better, however I would suggest including a few eye candy pix to hook surfers right away, and also make the paragraphs smaller (more paragraph breaks - easier on the eye, and it makes people more inclined to read, and keep reading).

Anway, I found the only contact I've ever had w/ this guy. He talked to me about buying ads. Chat transcript below. Again sorry for providing so much info but I take accusations like that VERY seriously. Also, if you don't feel like reading the whole thing, PLEASE scroll to the bottom for the transcript of the conversation I just had with him.

Long story short, the guy says we fucked over a "buddy" of his but he can't provide any proofs, any facts, nothing. I've invited him to have his "buddy" post his claims here in a public forum. We'll see if he has the balls.
