The thing that makes me believe they're real are the tiles in the first one. Look at the ones in the "after" pic. They don't look right. They have definitley been brightened along with the rest of the pic. In terms of brightness, the "before" one looks just right, which leads me to believe that the skintone and hair are as they really are. It just looks more real to me. I think the before pics are real.
