    Lack of communication question.

I've been trying to contact a certain designer for a good 2 weeks now without a reply. I really want *THIS* designer to do something for me, and I've asked for prices and such. I haven't ordered anything, since I haven't received a reply.

Should I give up and move to someone else, even though they're not nearly as good as this guy. I hope this guy is just busy with customers and such, or has technical difficulties...as if he doesn't answer a potential client for 2 weeks, it might end up messy after I actually order something.

    Usually it goes like this:

I contact someone to do something, within 10 minutes they're ready to go. I prepay them and they vanish, and THEN I don't hear anything for 2 weeks.

Now... if this guy hasn't answered me for 2 weeks, will I have to wait 8 weeks after ordering stuff and he vanishing and shit, or will this mirror the above example. 2 weeks of silence, then order, prepay and delivered in 10 minutes?

Just venting, I know people say *move on to the next guy* and spam. But I really want *THIS* guy, and I'm willing to throw money away, and even wait weeks.
    ..and I'm off.

With very rare exceptions, there is going to be a designer who is comparable. And everyday the project isn't done you are losing money.

Not true on both occasions. There's certain designers that have things others just cannot do...and this isn't a vital project

If it's that crucial, then I guess you'll have to wait and try to plan accordingly. I would be a bit apprehensive putting that much stock in another person to complete YOUR project at their pace.

Now I'm curious as to what groundbreaking skills this designer brings to the table.

don't waste your time, unless it's for mtv.com the design is not important at all
even for mtv.com I'd rather have funcionality than uber-hot design

I'm sorry, will answer your email soon. Been very busy last couple of weeks

But seriously, if he hasn't answered your mails they might be caught in some spamfilter? Have you tried ICQ or other IMs?

Yeah, I've tried it all. The guy is respectable and highly recommended in threads too.
                            He just probably hates me.

Many emails get lost in the wind....maybe icq or yahoo or msn or another form of messenger...if this is the designer you really want, and the project isn't vital...then, perhaps request a delivery/read receipt on the next round.
