I know MANY people who thought it was dumb and bopring but when they actually took the time to learn the rules and watched a few games became big fans of the sport. It is truly a unique combination of strategy and violence, very similar to war in that it is a territorial sport. Once you learn the fundamentals you might be amazed at how symmetric the game really is. NFL players are todays modern gladiators. No sport out there demmands as much from your body and mind.

I personally love football ("soccer"...), I enjoy American football since I took time to learn the game, but I have to say that rugby is way more dynamic than american football, it can be way more brutal (just take a look at their shoes, they have 2 inch nails, with no protection at all..), they could kill each other if they want to, but the fair play rules, it's truly a sport for real men. And, obviously, american football it's just a version of rugby.
