I can only think of one... the possibility of using it to test the effectiveness of anti-hitbot software, perhaps in trade scripts or the like.

However, someone using it for that purpose would probably say that's what it's being used for up front.

ive got 2 problems with this:

1. i cant think of a single legitimate use for a hitbot

2. you are stealing another person's intellectual property. if you are a software pirate don't complain if people steal your design or content, you are doing exactly the same thing

Ahem, I've written a trading script and I've never been tempted to write a hitbot, even for "research" purposes. That's a pretty unfair association.

The guys who write hitbots are probably quite talented programmers with a lot of knowledge about how web sites, browsers and net traffic work. I've been using the net for 11 years and I don't think I would have the skills to write a hitbot. It's sad that they use their skills to defraud others.
