I sent a very big bouquet to my sweet gf and her favourite perfume. Here in Canada, it's not a very popular day but over in Europe, Russia, etc. it is BIG - as in, if-you-miss-treating-your-lady-special-today-your-ass-is-in-the-doghouse-for-a-year kind of big...Comment

In Russia, they celebrate it very big. All the women get flowers, chocolates and gifts. It's a national holiday now, so they don't even go to work on March 8th. It's a very nice celebration, too bad we don't have it here.Comment

I think the florist's and shops come up with these days. First they bring them in with some bs meaning, than they wipe the meaning away and just say you have to buy someone gifts and flowers.
