eating more small meals does not "speed up your metabolism".
your metabolism speeds up and slows down in direct relation to the quantity of food you eat and there is no direct benefit to the frequency of meals and weight loss. the indirect benefit is that eating more frequently will aid helping to maintain a faster metabolism that is being sped up by other factors (i.e. increased exercise)
