                                                                                        My only experience with relationship violence was a girlfriend that once took her shoe off and threw it at me, smacking me in the face. This was over my line so I went to leave the apartment (hers) and she blocked the door. I then just sat on the couch and calmly told her I was not going to get physical with her because I knew where that led, I would sit there as long as it took but eventually I was going to walk out that door and never come back. And that is what happened.

                                                                                        Now the but...what if that first indication of violent bullshit had been on a grander scale than a thrown shoe and I had needed to defend myself? Scary thought...

Defending yourself, as in preventing the woman from harming you, is another matter entirely. The prime directive being "real men don't hit women" comes first and foremost. Beyond that, you leave any way you can.
