That looks exactly like the location for a movie I saw a few years ago. I forget what it was though. Was like a clean up crew came to clean up the place and they got fucked over by ghosts.
A friend suggested I should've gotten a shot of the GFY hoodie in the confessional booths (I was wearin' it yesterday)....but we never thought of it at the time.

no, whats sick is the fact that parents sold out their childrens trust and innocence for a hefty payment by the catholic church...
think about all the cases that were made public over the years and multiply that by 1000 and you havent even scratched the surface....
ever hear the expression "life is a tragic comedy"? thats what i meant by my post... it was not meant to be humorous...
Its the fact that you choose to highlight and exploit the negative rather than the good things the Catholic orphanages have done over the years - like a glass half-empty person.
No denying there was a fair amount of abuse and whatnot, but your initial comment was rather flippant (for the shock value I suspect).

good point... yes, original comment was meant to create a stir... not for comedy though...
those shots are great, i love places like that, i wonder what they are going to do with it.
I'm not sure about that location - despite the damage inside, its relatively untagged by vandals and grafitti. I'm guessing neighbourhood punks haven't had access to it for very long.
Much of the structure is rather unstable, tho - one entire section has the floors caved in.
I'm guessing they'll likely tear them down eventually.
those just look creepy man.. I so agree.. and damn it's a big place that just went to waste.. hope they'd come up into something to make it useful again...
Maybe you should have done a porn shoot there. That old organ and the confessional booths would make a neat set.
Well it's in slightly better condition than this old church I found on a small island in Bahamas. Here's a couple of shots from a shoot I did there with Layla Rivera (Max Hardcore's girl).
Granted this was a lot more isolated than what you saw in NY. This church is in the middle of absolutely nowhere.

what lens did u use? you should do a book of these buildings you got a real gift.
62mm stock lens on an olympus e10.
Thanks for the generous compliment. Eventually I'd like to do a coffeetable book (or two). I've got over 20,000 abandonment shots in the collection these days - more than enough to keep a publisher busy awhile.
A few years ago I heard renowned Canadian photographer Sherman Hines did a "Great Outhouses of Canada" calendar - which apparently sold very well. I guess there's hope for my stuff after all.
